Chopard was founded in 1860 in Sonvilier by Louis-Ulysse Chopard. The company was famous for its ladies’ timepieces and pocket watches that it exported across the world to illustrious places like the Court of Tsar Nicholas II in Russia.

Chopard was bought by Karl Scheufele, a watchmaker from Pforzheim, in 1963. The Scheufele family has owned the company ever since and it is internationally renowned for its creations both in haute horlogerie (L.U.C) and haute joaillerie as well as its use of sustainable materials such as Fairmined gold and Lucent steel.
