Blue-blood new Calatrava ladies’ watch, with white gold case (35 mm), bezel set with 76 diamonds guilloched and lacquered midnight blue dial, ultra-thin self-winding 240 caliber, navy-blue calfskin strap.
The Patek Philippe Ladies’ Calatrava with its guilloched lacquered dial features a slightly larger diameter (35mm) and a self-winding movement replacing the previous manually wound caliber. Finely adorned with concentric waves, the dial plate is coated with several successive layers of transparent midnight blue lacquer creating a subtle depth effect. The bezel is lit up by 76 round-cut internally flawless Top Wesselton diamonds. This new model comes with a brushed calfskin strap featuring a satinated finish in a color matching that of the dial.
Launched in 2009, the Ref. 4897 Calatrava ladies’ watch with a guilloched and lacquered dial and the manually wound caliber 215 movement was available in various colors (brown, night blue, crème, silvery gray) and with a bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds or baguette diamonds. Now, this icon is followed by a new version with a self-winding movement and a white-gold case with a slightly larger diameter of 35 mm instead of 33 mm. It leverages its seductive power within a feminine circle of customers who expect a combination of aesthetic refinement and the exclusivity and convenience of a mechanical movement that winds itself with every motion of the wrist.
These new features are exactly what it takes to heighten its seductive appeal among female customers increasingly interested in models combining aesthetic refinement, sophistication and the comfort of a mechanical movement naturally wound by wrist movements. The dial requires lengthy and attentive craftsmanship. The base with its finely guilloched concentric wave pattern is coated with several successive layers of transparent midnight blue lacquer. This decoration creates a fascinating background depth effect, against which the powdered white gold arrow-shaped hour markers and faceted white gold dauphine-style hands appear to be floating.
The bezel is adorned with 76 round-cut internally flawless Top Wesselton diamonds (~0.52 ct), a setting that perfectly enhances and illuminates the dial with its radiant decoration. The integration of the ultra-thin self-winding caliber 240 with offcentered 22K gold mini-rotor has made it possible to maintain a very slim and compact case. The elegant movement design, along with its refined finishing performed in strict compliance with the Patek Philippe Seal’s stringent criteria, are visible through a transparent sapphire crystal case back. The sophistication of this new model is accentuated by a shiny navy blue strap in brushed calfskin with a satinated finish, secured by a white gold prong buckle. The new Reference 4997/200G-001 is the perfectly elegant successor to the 4897 model.
